Oh, Texas into LA

It's been almost a month since we have adopted living on the road!  In that time we have parked our RV in 10 different places on our adventure.  Wow, we have been keeping busy...and getting really good with setting up and putting away our RV for our moves.  Yesterday we left Texas and drove into Louisiana.  Before we get there, this is what we've done in Texas.

While in Brady, TX we went searching for Vicki's grandmother's house....we think we saw it.  Didn't see much else along the way!
All the driving has Otis exhausted, he thought this is a comfortable way to sleep!

Our first stop was outside of Austin, TX in the wine/hill country.  We stayed at a Harvest Host Winery for a few nights while exploring the surrounding areas.  The winery had a few farm dogs, lots of chickens, geese and 2 long-horn cattle.  Needless to say, the dogs had the most fun in days!  Otis tried catching some chickens and "helped" round-up the cattle with another farm dog.  We had some wine tastings and yummy pizza.  When we came back to the 5th wheel, Otis had decided to be a naughty dog....but we calmed ourselves with newly bought wine!  We will patch it for now

Then, off to Austin so see how it's changed in the last 12 years walking around the riverwalk and getting lunch at the ATX flagship Whole Foods.
The next day was rainy while we walked around Fredericksburg; so we drove around looking at sights instead.

The farm/winery dogs

Naughty boy
Naughty boy!

Probably should not be putting this in your body if there's a warning sign & waiver

Texas bluebonnets!

We spent another couple of days down by the San Antonio area.  We hit it on the Saturday Farmers Market in the Pearl district, and walked the Riverwalk.  The dogs were the biggest hit!  A trip for us wouldn't be complete without a Dos-a-rita and guac!

From there it was time to hit the beaches of Corpus Christi and introduce Otis to the saltwater!  Needless to say, he and Duke love the water; they had fun chasing tennis balls and all the birds into the waves.  We hung out here for a couple of days walking and driving on the beach.
Otis is a natural being underwater

Whataburger originated in Corpus Christi and we had our tasting

Next stop was in Freeport, TX just west of Galveston, TX.  No reason to be here other than more beach!  We were apparently following the weather as it was WINDY, had a rain storm, then really cold and on the last 2 days, beautiful weather.  This is the perfect beach for shell collectors, especially after the storm.  We went to Galveston for the day, walked the historic district, and had some delicious seafood at Katie's Seafood (dogs in tow!)  These dogs are our new kids, they go wherever we go, unless we get them in doggie daycare LOL!

Beach view (kinda) from our site

Laying on his "handy work"

These crazies got themselves tangled up, they aren't used to being on leashes

Stormy weather headed our way.

Had to sit inside due to the windy weather, they were very good boys!  Although, this place charged us $1.00 for dog water!

And our first stop in LA was a Harvest Host at "Snow White Sanctuary" in Vinton, LA on our way to New Orleans.  This was an amazing stop for the night!  24 acres to explore, tons of animals around, and friendly dogs that wore Otis out! (yay--so thankful for this).  Morning coffee while watching the grazing horses at the lily pad filled pond was so peaceful.  The owners moved here after a fire near their home in the Sierra Nevadas (small world).
He's not sure about this turkey

This is how the LGD Great Pyrenees greeted all of us, no problem being around our dogs, but keeping watch for the hawks and coyotes

Otis wasn't allowed on Goat Island, but very interested in seeing the Emu, Goats, pigs, and mini cow

His 6 mo old friend, Waffles kept him busy playing

Peacocks, Turkeys, Guineafowl, Ducks, Geese, and Chickens....he loved checking them all out and tried really hard not to chase them

Dining with a view

We left early this morning noticing that one of our tires was low on the 5th wheel.  Jason filled it and when we stopped at the gas station put some fix a flat in it. (we've had to fill it before, so probably a slow leak).  Well, after about 5 min on the highway, Jason noticed smoke from that tire and pulled over.  It had shredded.  So, so so thankful that my handy husband can change a tire on the side of the 10 hwy with big rigs blowing by him. 💓.  We found a tire shop a few stops away and after and hour, we are back on the road.  We are in New Orleans for the next 2 days (or more?).  Next stops we think will be to Gulf Shores, AL then Destin, FL area.

Leave us recommendations of places to go!
